New Energy Farms, in partnership with Explante Biotecnologia, is bringing to Brazil a totally new approach to planting sugarcane and energy cane with synthetic seeds, CEEDS technology. This partnership will make sugarcane CEEDS available for purchase by Brazilian customers through Explante, which in addition to providing inputs for CEEDS production, will support mill projects to establish NEF CEEDS™️ production modules for domestic supply.
After the first tests with CEEDS carried out in several plants in Brazil, the technology has been improved and offers benefits in terms of disease-free material, which can be planted mechanized to reduce production costs and use 100% of nursery areas for the production of sugar, ethanol and energy.
CEEDS technology is provided by NEF through licensing to help mills establish in-house production modules. These factories are intensive horticulture sites, with little occupied area, which can be a new project or expand the production capacity of investments of existing factories in the production of plug plants (MPB). This Partnership will facilitate large-scale, low-cost domestic supply of clean seed planting material for 500 to 5,000 ha per year per production modules. NEF provides on-site technical support, from initial requirements assessment to on-site implementation and ongoing support.
